Just a few blocks away from our house, up on College Hill, is the Rural Cemetery (click here to see the map). I don't yet know the history of this cemetery but it is certainly not rural in its location. There are a lot of really interesting headstones and mausoleums in here. I have only been in it once (yesterday) so far, but I plan on going back. It is very peaceful and very beautiful. I know it is weird to like cemeteries but I seem to be drawn to them. And I am finding that New York has a TON of cool old cemeteries. Northern Virginia did not have hardly any since it was all very new (Cortland just celebrated its bicentennial this summer). So the more I look the more I find that is holding my interest in my new town.
Thanks for stopping by.
